Takefusa Kubo News with Real Madrid
The 18-year-old midfielder joined Madrid from FC Tokyo this summer, but after spending a summer with the 13-time European champions, he decided he wanted consistent game time elsewhere.
Zidane had hoped to convince Kubo to stay with the club this season, as he was so impressed with his ability in pre-season training. However, Kubo opted to make a temporary move to Mallorca, where he has played 15 games, scoring once.
‘When the tour of North America ended, Zidane told me that he wanted me to stay at Real Madrid this season,’ Kubo told Japanese TV.
‘But I spoke to Zidane and asked him that if there was a chance to have more game time then I’d like to leave on loan.’
